Lúnasa

 

Lúnasa are internationally acknowledged as being the finest traditional Irish instrumental band of recent times.  In October 1997, Ireland’s all-star quintet Lúnasa released their début CD Lúnasa, it became an immediate best-seller in Ireland, topping Hot Press’ folk charts and nominated one of the year’s top ten by the Irish Echo in the USA.

Celebrating ‘…a Decade of Excellence’ in 2007, and promoting the release of the new album in 2008 ‘The Story so Far…’ this band is showing no sign of slowing down!

Máirtín began playing the accordion at the age of nine, and his remarkable career has seen him as a member of many leading groups, including Midnight Well, De Dannan, and Skylark

Máirtín’s infectious and irresistible style and constantly growing status has kept him very busy…..

No doubt about it, Frankie Gavin is one of the genuine legends of Irish music.

From his first TV appearance playing the tin-whistle when he was seven, through All-Ireland Championship victories on both fiddle and flute, sixteen albums with the seminal Dannan, seven solo albums, his adventures in the realms of Jazz, Gospel, and Klezmer, to appearances with such luminaries as Earl Scruggs, Stephane Grapelli, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, and The Rolling Stones, ‘the prince of Irish fiddlers’ is one of the outstanding performers of the past thirty years.

Don Stiffe

 

'Start of a Dream' is Don Stiffe's long awaited debut solo album, released in 2006 to critical acclaim.  Don’s soothing and powerful voice gives us a selection of eleven songs, four of which are penned by Don himself. 

 

Don guarantees a most impressive performance on front of a live audience as those who have seen him in Ireland, Europe and the USA will testify.  He has been selling out live performances since the release of Start of a Dream.

Island Eddy

 

A newly formed band but no strangers to the business, Island Eddy's line up brings together the contemporary sound of Jim McKee's vocals and the traditional expertise of Brendan Larrissey (fiddle), Brian Duke (flute) and Martin Gavin (bodhran). This will be band to watch out for in 2008.....!

 

‘On their self titled debut recording, Island Eddy impressively introduce themselves as a special band. The quartet is a welcome addition to the growing ranks of superior traditional groups coming out of Ireland in recent years.’ Earle Hitchner Wall Street Journal, NY.

 

 

Kevin Crawford and friends….

 

Born in Birmingham, England, Kevin Crawford’s early life was one long journey into Irish music and Co. Clare, to where he eventually moved while in his 20’s.

He was a member of Moving Cloud, the Clare-based band who recorded such critically-acclaimed albums as Moving Cloud and Foxglove, and he also recorded with Grianán, Raise The Rafters, Joe Derrane and Sean Tyrrell and appears on the 1994 recording The Sanctuary Sessions.

Kevin now tours the world with Ireland’s cutting edge traditional band, Lúnasa, called by some the “Bothy Band of the 21st Century,” with six ground breaking albums to their credit; Lúnasa, Otherworld, The Merry Sisters of Fate, Redwood, The Kinnity Sessions and .

A virtuoso flute player, Kevin has also recorded two solo albums, D’Flute Album and the more recent In Good Company.

With Cillian Vallely

 

A gifted Armagh-born uilleann pipes and low whistle player, Cillian comes from the same talented musical family as his brother Niall Vallely, concertina player with the group Nomos. Cillian has spent most of the recent past touring in the US, performing with bands such as New York-based ‘Whirligig’, Paddy O’Brien’s ‘Chulrua’ and with Clare fiddler Seamus Connolly. He was featured as uilleann pipes soloist in the Broadway production of ’Riverdance’ and toured with Tim O’Brien in "The Crossing." Cillian and Niall have released an album together “Callan Bridge” on Compass Records.

 

  

Líadan

 

Líadan's mesmerising singing and creative instrumental music have been captivating audiences throughout Ireland, Europe and America since the band's formation in spring 2004. Blending together their rich musical backgrounds, these six talented young ladies create a fresh and exciting sound that explores both traditional and new material.

  

 

Buílle

 

Buille first came into being during the summer of 2004. It combines the unique talents of Niall Vallely on concertina, Paul Meehan on guitar and Caoimhín Vallely on piano. Their debut album, which was released on the Vertical label in June 2005, consists mostly of new music composed by Niall Vallely.  While based in traditional Irish forms, the music draws on a wide range of influences from the worlds of jazz and classical music in particular.
